Xavier Roeseler: hiking the Camino Santiago (northern route)
On the 1st of June I am embarking on an ambitious adventure; a hike across the northern coast of Spain between Irun in the Basque Country and Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. It’s better known as the northern route of the Camino Santiago; gorgeous scenery, loads and loads of photographic opportunities (sweeet) and many interesting people to meet.
However, it is 825km in total and I’ll be doing it in about 34 days (with a couple days rest) meaning that I’ll be walking on average 25km/day; so it’s not going to be easy. I am expecting a couple dozen blisters a day, sore legs and a sore back from carrying all my gear. Despite this, I am optimistic it’ll be an incredibly inspiring trip.
For the last 5 months I have been interning at The DoNation and helped coordinate the launch of this fresh looking website. It is partly my internship that inspired me to take on this challenge as I wanted to use the platform to promote it to my friends and family, especially you.
Sponsorship in the form of money is a very good deed, but the environment needs our action far far more than it needs our money. Since I’m an uber fan of the environment and sustainable living, it would mean a lot to me if you could sponsor me by taking a simple green action, or 4. There is a wholesome selection of 20 ‘DoActions’ which you can choose from, so you can pick something that suits you (as long as you’re not already doing it!). Your sponsorship will support me throughout and egg me on to keep moving forwards every step of the way.
I am really looking forward to this epic wander; it’s going to be challenging but undoubtedly yield a load of tasty fruit and hopefully inspire you to take up a sustainable action for a couple months.
Thanks a lot in advance, hope you are well.
ps. do not worry, I have oodles of blister pads.
pps. expect butt-loads of photos.
